Question 4

Two-Part Analysis (strengthen and weaken)

Museum director: Our galleries are crowded on weekends but nearly empty on weekday afternoons. To spread visits more evenly, we will cut weekday-afternoon admission from $18 to $8. The lower price will lead many people who now visit only on weekends to come on weekday afternoons instead.

Select the statement that would most strengthen the director's argument and the statement that would most weaken it. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Questions 6–8

Choosing delivery carriers

Tab 1 – Email from the head of operations

From January, all home deliveries in our Northern region will go with one or more of the four carriers on the rate card. Two rules apply. First, we will use only carriers that delivered at least 95% of their shipments on time last year. Second, a shipment can go only with a carrier whose weight limit is at least the shipment's weight. Within those rules, each shipment goes with whichever carrier charges the least for it.

Tab 2 – January forecast

We expect 400 small parcels, 150 medium parcels and 60 large parcels in January. For planning, treat every small parcel as weighing 10 kg, every medium parcel as weighing 35 kg and every large parcel as weighing 90 kg.

Tab 3 – Carrier rate card

Each carrier charges a fixed fee per shipment plus a charge for each kilogram of the shipment's weight. The table also shows each carrier's maximum shipment weight and the percentage of its shipments that it delivered on time last year.

CarrierFee per shipmentCharge per kgWeight limitOn time last year
Brightway$12.00$0.8040 kg97%
Coastline$20.00$0.50120 kg95%
Delmar$6.00$1.1060 kg93%
Fenwick$35.00$0.30200 kg98%

Question 6

Multi-Source Reasoning (applying rules)

Under the rules in the head of operations' email, how much would it cost to send a single shipment weighing 70 kg?

Answer options for question 6

Question 7

Multi-Source Reasoning (evaluating statements)

For each of the following statements, select Yes if the statement is true based on the information provided. Otherwise, select No.

Under the email's rules, every small parcel forecast for January would go with Brightway.
If Delmar had delivered 95% of its shipments on time last year, it would be the carrier used for medium parcels.
Under the email's rules, Coastline would carry more of the forecast January shipments than any other carrier.

Question 8

Multi-Source Reasoning (totals)

Under the rules in the head of operations' email, what is the total forecast cost of the January shipments?

Question 10

Two-Part Analysis (percents)

Each month, a salesperson is paid a commission of 4% on her first $50,000 of sales in the month plus 7% on any sales above $50,000. Her commission was $4,800 in March and $1,400 in April.

Select her total sales in March and her total sales in April. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Sales in March
Sales in April

Question 11

Graphics Interpretation (scatter plot)

A chain plotted last month's results for its 10 stores on a scatter plot. Each store is one point: its horizontal coordinate is the store's advertising spend and its vertical coordinate is the store's sales, both in thousands of dollars. The table lists the coordinates of the 10 points.

Complete each statement by selecting the option that makes it accurate according to the information in the graph.

The number of stores whose sales were more than 10 times their advertising spend is _____.

If the point for the store with the highest sales is removed, the median sales of the remaining stores, in thousands of dollars, is _____.

Graphics Interpretation (line graph)

A line graph shows a company's annual revenue and annual operating costs, in millions of dollars, for 2020 through 2025. Each of the two lines joins six points, one for each year, at the values in the table. Operating profit equals revenue minus operating costs.

Question 18

Table Analysis (calculated values)

The table shows data for eight power plants. Capacity is the most power a plant can produce at any moment. Capacity factor is the plant's actual electricity output in 2025 as a percentage of what it would have produced running at full capacity all year, so each plant's 2025 output is proportional to its capacity multiplied by its capacity factor. The last column gives the percent change in each plant's output from 2024 to 2025.

For each of the following statements, select True if the statement is true based on the information in the table. Otherwise, select False.
