Cookies

What Keiko stores in your browser.

A plain list of every cookie and browser storage key the application sets, which of them wait for your permission, and how to clear them.

What this page covers

Keiko keeps a small number of values in your browser. This page lists the ones the application sets today, split into the values needed to run a signed-in session and the ones that only appear after you allow an optional purpose.

Reading public study pages needs no account and starts no optional measurement. Nothing on the optional list runs before you allow it in the choices on the privacy page.

Needed to run the application

Signed-in session cookie
Set when you sign in through WorkOS AuthKit so the server can recognise your session between requests. It is a secure, http-only cookie, which means page scripts cannot read it. Signing out ends the session.
Consent record — keiko.browser-consent.v1 and keiko.google-analytics-consent.v1
Local storage keys in this browser that remember your four separate choices: site-use and performance measurement, Google Analytics, research, and marketing. Each choice is stored with the version of the wording you answered, so a material change asks again. Without this record we cannot remember that you said no.
Theme preference — theme
A local storage key holding your light or dark choice. It is applied before the page paints so the interface does not flash the wrong theme.

Only after you allow an optional purpose

Google Analytics cookies — _ga, _ga_*, _gid, _gat, _gcl*
Set by Google only after you allow Google Analytics. The application loads the tag with advertising storage and personalisation signals denied, sends page views only for an allowlist of public pages, and strips query strings and fragments apart from approved campaign fields. When you withdraw the choice, the application clears the Google cookies it can reach from this site and stops sending new events; Google may still hold what it already received under its own retention settings.
Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights measurements
Loaded only after you allow site-use and performance measurement, and only on the same allowlist of public content pages. Event URLs are limited to this site's pathname with query strings and fragments removed. Account, billing, and private study routes are excluded.
Purchase de-duplication key — keiko.ga4.purchase.*
A session storage key written after a completed checkout so the same purchase event is not reported twice if you reload the confirmation page. It is removed when you close the tab.

Values that stay in this browser

Some study features write to browser storage and never send those values anywhere. Free practice progress (ts.practice.localProgress.v2) holds counts and public topic labels only — no answers, no question identifiers, no explanations. Free writing drafts (keiko.writing.localDraft.v1.*), practice takeaways (ts.practice.takeaway.v1.*), and an in-progress practice recovery entry (ts.practice.pending.v4.*) also stay on this device.

Because they are local, clearing your browser storage deletes them permanently and they do not appear in an account export. Signing in on another device will not show them.

Changing or clearing your choices

The four optional choices can be allowed, rejected, or withdrawn at any time on the privacy page. Allow and Reject take the same number of actions, and the change applies across your open Keiko tabs.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, every optional purpose is treated as rejected even when a stored preference previously allowed it. You can also clear cookies and site data for this site in your browser settings, which removes the consent record, the theme preference, and the local study values described above.

Limits of this list

This inventory describes what the application code sets today. It is not a scan of a running page, and it is not a statement that a provider's own settings have been checked by us. A browser extension, an embedded provider script, or your network can set values we do not control and cannot list here.

We do not claim this page has been reviewed by a lawyer or that it satisfies any particular jurisdiction's cookie rules.

Review and corrections

This page is reviewed on the schedule shown above, and again whenever a cookie, storage key, consent choice, or provider changes. If you find a value in your browser that this page does not explain, report it and we will investigate or correct the page. Corrections reach us through the contact form or support@keiko.study.

Something on this page looks wrong, out of date, or does not match what you experience? Tell us and we will recheck it. You can also email support@keiko.study. Please leave passwords, payment details, and other people's personal information out of the message.
