The GMAT fee depends on where you test. GMAC's exam payment page lists US$275 at a test center and US$300 online for India, the US and several other countries, and US$250 and US$275 for "All Other Locations". Eurozone countries pay €275 and €300, and the UK £250 and £275.
GMAT exam fee 2026 by location
GMAC, the organization that runs the GMAT, publishes its fees on the exam payment page on mba.com. There's no single worldwide price: you select your country and the page shows the fees for that location, based on where your test center is or, for the online exam, where you are when you test. The table groups the locations by the fees GMAC shows for them.
| Locations (as named in GMAC's drop-down) | Test center | Online |
|---|---|---|
| India, United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain | US$275 | US$300 |
| Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain | €275 | €300 |
| Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland | US$285 | US$310 |
| United Kingdom | £250 | £275 |
| Hong Kong and Macau | US$250 | US$250 |
| China (mainland) and Taiwan | US$250 | No online fee listed; the online exam isn't offered in Mainland China |
| All Other Locations, plus every other country in the drop-down (for example Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Vietnam, Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico) | US$250 | US$275 |
In almost every listing the online exam costs 25 more (in dollars, euros or pounds) than the test center exam; Hong Kong and Macau are the exception, with the same US$250 price for both. The exam itself doesn't change: GMAC says the online GMAT has the same structure, number of questions, timing and scoring as the test center exam. The online exam isn't available in Mainland China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea or Sudan.
- Pick your own country. GMAC's drop-down also has general "European Union" and "Schengen Zone" entries, and both show the US$250 and US$275 table, not the euro prices. If you're in Europe, select the country you'll test in.
- Local taxes can apply on top. The payment page says pricing, local taxes and regulations vary by location. For example, the Armenia listing adds a local tax of 30,625 AMD, paid separately by bank transfer before the test.
- Special programs. If you're testing through a special program, GMAC says some fees may differ and points you to your offer document.
What the GMAT fee includes
Your exam fee pays for one sitting of the GMAT. The exam has three sections (Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning and Data Insights) with 64 questions in 2 hours 15 minutes, plus one optional 10-minute break, and you choose the section order. For the full breakdown, see the GMAT syllabus or GMAT format and timing.
- Your Official Score Report. GMAC says you'll receive it within 3–5 days of finishing the exam, occasionally up to 20 days. Scores run from 205 to 805 and stay valid for five years.
- Up to five free score reports. You can send your score to up to five programs for free within 48 hours of your Official Score appearing in your mba.com account. You see your score before you decide where to send it.
- Extra score reports at US$35 each. Every location GMAC lists, including the euro and pound listings, prices additional score reports at US$35 each. You can send them to as many programs as you like while the score is no more than five years old, and the fees aren't refundable.
The 48-hour window is the easiest saving on this page. If you decide on your five programs before test day, you can send all of them free instead of paying US$35 for each one later.
GMAC's euro-priced listings also mention an Enhanced Score Report: it's priced in local currency if you buy it while registering, or US$30 from the mba.com store afterwards. The other listings don't show a price for it.
GMAT reschedule fees by location
Rescheduling keeps your booking and costs a fee. How much depends on where you test, whether you booked a test center or an online exam, and how far ahead you make the change. These are the amounts on GMAC's exam payment page, shown as test center / online:
| Locations | More than 60 days before | 15 to 60 days before | 14 days or less before |
|---|---|---|---|
| India, US, Canada, UAE, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain | US$55 / US$60 | US$110 / US$120 | US$165 / US$180 |
| Eurozone countries listed above | €55 / €60 | €110 / €120 | €165 / €180 |
| Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland | US$55 / US$70 | US$115 / US$130 | US$170 / US$190 |
| United Kingdom | £50 / £55 | £100 / £110 | £150 / £165 |
| Hong Kong and Macau | US$50 / US$50 | US$100 / US$100 | US$150 / US$150 |
| China (mainland) and Taiwan (test center only) | US$50 | US$100 | US$150 |
| All Other Locations and other listed countries | US$50 / US$55 | US$100 / US$110 | US$150 / US$165 |
In every listing, rescheduling more than 60 days ahead costs about a third of what it costs in the last two weeks (for example US$55 against US$165 at a test center in India). You can't reschedule or cancel within 24 hours of your appointment.
You can reschedule or cancel online for both test center and online exams. Test center bookings can also be changed by phone, but GMAC's policies say a phone change adds a US$10 service fee. Online exam bookings can only be changed online. If you have approved testing accommodations, the policies say to use the contact details in your accommodations decision letter.
GMAT cancellation refunds by location
Canceling ends your booking and gives you a partial refund. The amounts below are what you get back, shown as test center / online, from GMAC's exam payment page:
| Locations | More than 60 days before | 15 to 60 days before | 14 days or less before |
|---|---|---|---|
| India, US, Canada, UAE, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain | US$110 / US$120 | US$80 / US$90 | US$55 / US$60 |
| Eurozone countries listed above | €110 / €120 | €80 / €90 | €55 / €60 |
| Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland | US$115 / US$120 | US$85 / US$90 | US$55 / US$60 |
| United Kingdom | £100 / £110 | £75 / £80 | £50 / £55 |
| Hong Kong and Macau | US$100 / US$100 | US$75 / US$75 | US$50 / US$50 |
| China (mainland) and Taiwan (test center only) | US$100 | US$75 | US$50 |
| All Other Locations and other listed countries | US$100 / US$110 | US$75 / US$80 | US$50 / US$55 |
Canceling is expensive even when you do it early. Cancel a US$275 test center booking in India more than 60 days ahead and you get US$110 back, so you've still spent US$165.
The 24-hour rule and missed appointments
GMAC won't let you change an appointment within 24 hours of its start time. If you haven't rescheduled or canceled more than 24 hours before, the entire exam fee is forfeited. There's no partial refund for a no-show.
If you do miss your appointment, you can book a new exam without waiting the usual 16 days between attempts, but only after a 24-hour wait, and you pay the full registration fee again.
A few other situations also cost you the full fee, so they're worth checking well before test day:
- ID that doesn't match your booking. Your ID must exactly match the name, birth date and country of citizenship you used when you scheduled, and changes to your account details must be made at least 72 hours before the exam.
- Refusing any part of check-in. At a test center or online, the policies say you won't be allowed to test and will forfeit the fee.
- An online room that fails the scan. If your testing area doesn't pass the room scan, you can't continue and the whole exam fee is forfeited. Clear your desk and cover any glass walls, doors or windows before you connect.
- A computer that fails the online requirements. GMAC says that if your system doesn't meet the requirements on exam day, you can't test and you forfeit the fee. Run the system check on the same computer well before test day.
Worked example: rescheduling vs canceling
Say you booked a test center GMAT in India for US$275 and, 30 days before the date, you realize you need more time. You're in the 15–60 day window of GMAC's India fee listing, so your options look like this:
| What you do | What happens | Total paid |
|---|---|---|
| Reschedule online | Pay the US$110 fee and keep a booking | US$275 + US$110 = US$385, and you still test |
| Reschedule by phone | Pay US$110 plus the US$10 phone fee | US$275 + US$120 = US$395, and you still test |
| Cancel, then book again later | Get US$80 back, then pay US$275 for a new booking | US$275 − US$80 + US$275 = US$470, and you still test |
| Cancel and don't test | Get US$80 back | US$195 spent, no score |
| Miss the appointment | Full fee forfeited | US$275 spent, no score |
If you still plan to take the GMAT, rescheduling online is US$85 cheaper than canceling and rebooking. For an online exam in India in the same window, rescheduling costs US$120 (US$420 in total), while canceling and rebooking costs US$300 − US$90 + US$300 = US$510. Under "All Other Locations", the same test center change costs US$250 + US$100 = US$350 to reschedule, against US$250 − US$75 + US$250 = US$425 to cancel and rebook.
The same holds in every listing: the reschedule fee is always smaller than the amount you lose by canceling and paying again. Canceling only makes sense if you've decided not to take the GMAT at all, for example because you're switching tests. If that's you, read GRE vs GMAT: which should you take, or, if you're applying in India, GMAT vs CAT first.
Paying for the GMAT
- Cards accepted: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, as credit or debit cards.
- On your statement: GMAC says the charge usually appears as VUE*GRAD MGMT TEST for test center exams or TALVIEW.INC. for online exams.
- Declined card: if your card is declined, your appointment is canceled automatically and you have to book again with a valid payment method.
- Disputing the charge: wrongly disputing the fee with your card company can lead to your appointment or score being canceled.
We haven't converted the US dollar fees into rupees or other currencies. Where GMAC prices the exam in US dollars, your bank's exchange rate and any card fees decide the final amount, so check the total at checkout. If you're also weighing the GRE, our GRE fees by country guide shows what ETS charges where you live.
How to keep your GMAT costs down
- Practice before you pay. GMAC's Official Starter Kit and Practice Exams 1 & 2 are free with an mba.com account. You can also take our free GMAT practice test to see where you stand before you book.
- Compare the two formats. In most locations the test center exam is cheaper than the online one, and its reschedule fees are lower too. Our GMAT online vs test center guide covers the other differences, including which schools accept online scores.
- Pick a date you can keep, and change it early if you must. Moving a booking more than 60 days ahead costs about a third of the fee for the final two weeks.
- Reschedule rather than cancel if you still plan to test, and make the change online to avoid the US$10 phone fee.
- Choose your five free score reports in advance so you can send them within the 48-hour window instead of paying US$35 each later.
- Plan retakes realistically. You can take the GMAT up to five times in a rolling 12-month period, at least 16 days apart, with no lifetime limit, but each attempt is a new exam fee. Set a target with what is a good GMAT score, and see how many times you can take the GMAT before you plan a second sitting.
- Use a voucher or fee waiver if you're offered one. GMAC's policies say it can be applied to the exam fee but not to reschedule fees, and online and test center vouchers can't be swapped, so book the delivery type your voucher covers.
