Free ESAT practice test

The science and engineering admissions test for Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial courses.

The ESAT is made of 40-minute modules of 27 multiple-choice questions, with no calculator. Everyone takes Mathematics 1; most applicants take two more modules chosen by their course.

This practice test has all five modules, so you can sit exactly the combination your course asks for. Every question is original and comes with a worked solution.

How to use this practice test

  1. Sit each section with the timer on, in one go, without notes or a calculator.
  2. Submit to see how many you got right and which topics cost you marks.
  3. Read the worked solution for every question you missed — and for any you got right by guessing.
  4. Redo the missed questions a few days later without looking at the solutions.
  5. Finish with all sections back to back to practise your stamina and pacing.

How the real ESAT is scored

The real ESAT reports each module on a scale from 1 to 9 to one decimal place, based on the number of correct answers, with no marks lost for wrong answers. This practice test shows how many you got right in each module; it does not convert that into a 1–9 score.

Format checked on UAT-UK: ESAT on 1 October 2026. Always confirm dates and rules with UAT-UK before you book.
