The GRE Chemistry Subject Test was discontinued

Last administered April 2023. It is no longer offered, so there is nothing to register for or study toward here.

What happened

ETS retired the GRE Chemistry Subject Test after the April 2023 testing window. Chemistry graduate programs no longer receive a Chemistry subject score, so no current test measures this material. If a program still lists it, contact the department — its requirements predate the discontinuation.

What to do instead

GRE General Test

The test most chemistry programs now use where any GRE is required. Still administered, with quantitative, verbal, and analytical writing sections.

Remaining GRE Subject Tests
