The GRE Biology Subject Test was discontinued

Last administered May 2021. It is no longer offered, so there is nothing to register for or study toward here.

What happened

ETS retired the GRE Biology Subject Test after the May 2021 testing window (the Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology test was discontinued earlier, in 2016). No current subject test measures this material. If a program still lists it, contact the department — its requirements predate the discontinuation.

What to do instead

GRE General Test

The test most life-sciences programs now use where any GRE is required. Still administered, with quantitative, verbal, and analytical writing sections.

Remaining GRE Subject Tests

Only Physics, Mathematics, and Psychology subject tests are still offered. Browse the living exam hubs.
